Manchester United have been linked with the transfer of Paris Saint Germain star Kylian Mbappe. The talented Frenchman has communicated an unwillingness to activate the final optional year in his contract. Coupled with the failure to achieve his goals with PSG, Mbappe now feels it might be time to look elsewhere. He could be seen in the premier league next season if Manchester United can finalize his deal.
The unyielding challenge
Before the beginning of last season, Real Madrid were reportedly on the verge of signing the talented attacker. They wanted to complete his dream move to the Santiago Bernabeu. The player had also been open to joining Madrid. However, a massively impressive salary, huge bonuses, and incentives played a key role in persuading the player to stay. France President Emmanuel Macron also played a part in convincing Mbappe not to leave the country. PSG considered him the right man to lead them to the elusive Champions League title. However, winning the coveted accolade has proven challenging, with PSG failing on several occasions. Despite having the Neymar, Mbappe, and Messi trio in attack, they failed to impress in the competition in the just concluded season.
Need for a move
Lionel Messi has already left the club, with Neymar reportedly ready to make the move. The star men have failed to inspire the French club to the UCL title, that the French Capital is yet to come by. In a recent expose, Mbappe revealed that PSG have been making several crucial mistakes that have cost them in the Champions League. That notwithstanding, the coaches who have taken charge are also finding it difficult to bring together the talents in this team. Finding the right system that works for PSG players is proving a massive hurdle for managers. With the UCL seeming like a holy grail to the club, Mbappe would be open to shift to the Premier League if the opportunity arises; and Man United are waiting on this opening.
Man United’s relationship with PSG
Recent reports have it that PSG owner Nasser Al Khelaifi has been negotiating the purchase of Manchester United on behalf of Sheikh Jassim. Despite refuting the claims, it is reported that the two billionaires have a great relationship. It would not be shocking if Kylian Mbappe could make that anticipated move to Old Trafford. According to some sources, the transfer can only be successful if Sheikh Jassim purchases the club. We can wait to see whether this transfer could materialize with the transfer window now officially open.
