Robert Lewandowski bagged two UEFA awards, a consolation following the cancellation of the Balon d’Or. Following a remarkable season at Bayern, Lewandowski was the fans’ favorite to win the award. The Polish striker scored 34 goals in 31 appearances in Bundesliga for the Bavarians and made four assists. Moreover, he netted 15 goals in the Champions League. He made five assists also. Haaland followed him with ten goals in his name.

The 32-year-olds performance in the Champions League helped Bayern Munich bag a sixth Champions League Trophy. It is worth noting that this is an exemplary performance indeed. As a result of the excellent performance, Lewandowski won the UEFA award for best striker in the league. He beat the likes of Erling Haaland, Christiano Ronaldo and Mbappe to the award. To crown it all, he was awarded the UEFA Men’s player of the year award.

Champions League Goalkeeper of the Season

The fantastic German shot-stopper, Manuel Neuer, was also awarded. He was awarded the Champions League Goalkeeper of the season award. This man made several saves in the final against Paris Saint Germain in the final. Moreover, he kept six clean sheets in eleven starts for the Bavarians in the Champions League. A well deserved one.

The versatile full back

Joshua Kimmich won the Champions League defender of the season award. This versatile German player has been prolific in all positions that he has started in. Joshua Kimmich scored two goals in the Champions League. Furthermore, he made four assists, creating four big chances. Kimmich had a 88% pass accuracy in the Champions League. His presence, together with Thiago Alcantra in the team, ensured Bayern Munich made the right moves with the ball. The 25-year-old has been a site to watch.

Bayern Munich win 20th German Cup, keeping treble win this season alive

Bundesliga reigning champions, Bayern Munich, have won the German Cup for a 20th time keeping their treble win hopes alive.

Bayern are also unbeaten in their last 26 games, with only one draw since December, setting a new record.

The Bundesliga champions won the Cup in their final match against Bayer Leverkusen which resulted to 4-2. David Alaba opened the score sheet with a free kick in the 16th minute to give Bayern a lead.

Serge Gnabry doubled the lead for Bayern in the 24th minute with a brilliant assist from Joshua Kimmich, scoring his 20th goal in all competitions this season.

Lewandowski, the Polish striker, scored two goals in the second half taking his tally to 51 in 44 games this season in all competitions. He scored his first goal in the 59th minute after he was able to control Manuel Neuer’s long kick before shooting from at least 30 yards.

Bayer Leverkusen made it 3-1 with a brilliant goal from Sven Bender just 4 minutes after Lewandowski scored his first goal. Lewandowski scored his fourth goal with an assist from Ivan Perisic just before Kai Havertz gave Leverkusen a second and final goal of the game.

Bayern are now hoping to make it a treble by also winning the Champions League. They have an aggregate win of 3-0 against Chelsea in the first leg with the second leg set to be played next month when Champions League competition resumes.

Leverkusen missed out on Champions League qualification after finishing 5th in the Bundesliga but still have a chance if they become victors in the Europa League which is also set to return next month.
